"Villa Castanea is a true home away from home and gives you the opportunity to escape from everything. It is nestled on a small hill with panoramic views and located in a lovely part of the Murcian province, however, is not too far from the night-life, shops and restaurants of Sucina (10 minutes) or the beach, restaurants and bars at San Pedro del Pinatar (25 minutes) if you feel the need for hustle and bustle.

 

The highlight for us, as a family with a young child, is the seclusion and tranquillity this house offers. We love the fact we can do our grocery shop, arrive and then not have to leave for a week as everything we want is there- a fabulous pool, lovely walks, great cycling and even the internet (if we have to use it). Our son likes to paint on the terrace, create play-doh monuments in the garden, under the shade of the olive trees, and do bug hunts. It really is a little gem of a place to retreat to in order to recharge your batteries. We would highly recommend it."

The Villa

​

The Villa features 4 bedrooms, spacious enough to sleep various numbers of people, from 2 to 3 and even 4 people a room. This makes Villa Castanea a well-suited house for group holidays or families wanting space. In addition, the Villa has a modern large kitchen with 2 bathrooms and a traditional living room. Furthermore, there is an 8 * 10 metre outside pool with a small plunge pool, located within a large garden area. To the side of Villa Castanea is a large eating area, with tables and chairs ready for parties. Many people have used Villa Castanea for wedding parties.

Villa Castanea boasts a 360-degree viewing area from the house and garden, allowing visitors to enjoy a full panoramic view of the area.

Villa Castanea is located in the region of Murcia, with Murcia, the capital city, just 20 kilometres away. The region is renowned for its highly diverse landscape encompassing everything from luscious irrigated forests to arid, dry deserts, mountainous landscapes to low lying plains. Everything you need for adventure and relaxation lies within a short distance of Villa Castanea.

Villa Castanea is 40 kilometres from the sea, with direct roads to the coast.

The Region of Murcia

The region of Murcia is famous for its sport, particularly hiking, Golf and cycling. The national cycling team of Spain train in this area, using the mountainous terrain and contrasting flat plains to add challenges to their training regime.

Murcia is world famous for its Golf. There are 22 award winning golf courses located in the region. If you want to place yourself at the heart of the Golfing world, then book at Villa Castanea and you have choice of where to play.

The closest course is the Hacienda Riquelm just a 15 minute’s drive away, approximately 15 kilometres. The award-winning Hacienda Riquelm is designed by Jack Nicklaus and is a par 71 course of 18 holes.

Arts and Culture

Villa Castanea is 20 kilometres from the city of Murcia, which is famous for its Baroque buildings and famous Cathedral of Saint Mary.  The city boasts 8 museums ranging from sculpture and high art to an actual aquarium museum located at the local university. There are frequent festivals with Murcia having an urban Spanish vibe felt only by the likes of Barcelona and Madrid. In other words, there is something for everyone, from children to adults, all looking to enjoy the splendour of Spanish life.

 

Weather

The weather in the region is, quite frankly, sunny. According to the local Tourist board, there are 300 days of sun a year, with an average temperature of 19 degrees.

 

Villa Castanea, like Murcia itself, is many things to many people. It can offer peace and relaxation, whilst being located close enough to Murcia to offer an easy escape to events and festivities if you have exhausted the quiet side.
